'Love Peace & Harmony in Art and Living' @ MOS | chiang mai, thailand
collaboration with miaki美秋 ( website )
Inspired by Harry Lehman's book "Die Digitale Revolution der Musik" where he describes the digital compressing and decompressing of sounds, as well as by my connection to Miaki in Japan, where I lived for eight years. I try to teach Miaki to play the violin. The violin is connected to computer software and each of the five strings is assigned a different sound to play back: >
- Miaki monologue
- Miaki's hometown in Kagoshima
- previous Zoom meeting between Stephan and Miaki
- Chiang Mai, near Stephan's apartment
- Stephan monologue
Miaki can control the volume and playback speed of each sound (and play back multiple sounds at once) by varying bow pressure and fingering position. Due to her inexperience with the instrument, I give her a lesson.
